Doug’s approach to design is rooted in an deep appreciation of art, architectural history, and construction. He works diligently with clients to synthesize the program into a clear concept that informs each step of the design process. By distilling a design to what is essential, spaces are stabilizing in their simplicity and, with thoughtful and efficient detailing, celebrate the natural beauty of materials. He is devoted to building and nurturing strong client, consultant and contractor relationships – solidifying project goals, communicating the design vision, and following the design through construction. Doug has been adjunct faculty at the Maryland Institute of College of Art and a visiting critic at the University of Maryland School of Architecture and the School of Architecture and Planning at The Catholic University of America. His work has included institutional, hospitality, commercial, master planning, and residential projects of varying scale and complexity.
