Patapsco House
Along the edge of Patapsco Valley State Park, a new bike workshop and home office back directly onto the park’s trails, offering a cyclist’s version of a ski-in/ski-out retreat. The structure shares materials with the adjacent mid-century house but is stained black to set it apart, with exposed beams and a pared-down palette that allow it to recede into the forest. Renovations to the main house created an open great room with expanded windows that frame panoramic woodland views, while a new primary suite adds privacy and direct outdoor access. Both phases were designed with minimal impact on the land, preserving existing trees and elevating new foundations on concrete piers.
