Elk Neck State Park Cabins & Pavilions
At Elk Neck State Park, a series of site-specific projects supports restoration, accessibility, and continuity with the park’s historic character. At Mauldin Mountain, a new heavy timber picnic pavilion with a stone fireplace and an adjacent stone-clad comfort station will reestablish a gathering area previously damaged by tornadoes. Across multiple campground loops, five shower buildings will be renovated to include accessible facilities and family bathrooms, improving comfort and inclusivity for all visitors. At the Rustic Cabins site, one cabin will be restored to reflect its original Civilian Conservation Corps-era construction, while eight new, fully air-conditioned cabins will be built on the footprints of the originals.
