Roundhouse Master Plan
The proposed new Baltimore Streetcar Museum museum space, an adaptive reuse of the historic 1910 Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad Roundhouse located at 2601 Falls Road, will serve as a new anchor to the current Streetcar Museum campus. This historic structure would be restored to its former elegance, and would function as a premier museum space, capable of displaying numerous streetcars, and housed within the voluminous restored timber framework of the Roundhouse space.
The conceptual design for the Roundhouse building and site presents several wonderful opportunities for the Baltimore Streetcar Museum. Greatest is the ability to put beautiful cars in a showroom that is grand enough to give them the reverence they deserve. The 15' high ceilings and even higher clerestory bring in an abundance of light from above and allows visitots to fully appreciate the overall grandeaur and the specific details that make the cars so wonderful to admire.
