EVERLED can replace fluorescent tubes!

EVERLED is a manufacturer of LED fluorescent tube replacements. From an energy standpoint fluorescent lighting is efficient, but the components of those tubes is not very environmentally friendly. The benefit of these new tubes is a 20% more energy-efficient light source and a 10+ year lifespan as opposed to 5-7 years for a traditional fluorescent tube. It is particularly interesting to think of this product as a good way for large office buildings to transition to more efficient light sources without replacing the fixtures themselves.

The downside is that the bulbs run about $150 at the moment. So don't expect these to fill up office buildings any time soon. But the concept is a good one and maybe with economies of scale we can see wider adoption of this technology.
