With the installation of the new president of the University of Delaware, the University entrusted the renovation of the President’s House to a team of consultants headed by Ziger|Snead. The project included a new enclosed east porch, a complete renovation of the catering kitchen to feel more like a typical residential kitchen, a new kitchen porch accessible to catering trucks, a new garage and pool house, and a renovated master bedroom suite including new bath and closets. Mechanical/Electrical and Plumbing systems were completely replaced and the structure was added to the school’s central chilled plant. Careful attention was paid to period detailing of all the renovations and addition to this grand residence which is listed on the National Register of Historic Structures.
