Johns Hopkins University Kavli Neuroscience Discovery Institute’s mission is to advance our knowledge of the structure and function of the brain by uniting neuroscience, engineering and computational data science. This mission is supported with a new home that not only connects multiple disciplines and the multiple locations on JHU’s Homewood and East Baltimore campuses, but also to the other Kavli Center’s worldwide. 

The 4,000 sf interior renovation of Clark Hall is the first of two Kavli Hubs for JHU dedicated to 24/7/365 collaborative space. The project is built around a central hub capable of hosting more than 40 people for formal lectures, workshops, and informal collaborative work sessions. The hub is equipped with the most advanced AV/IT technologies, support spaces and coffee bar to support an “always on” connection to the forthcoming East Campus Hub, as well as to other Kavli Institutes worldwide. The innovative design supports advanced experimentation, development of new techniques, and computational exploration to foster discoveries about how the brain works. 

The central hub space is flanked by two flexible work environments wrapped with writable glass surfaces, staff offices, and hoteling space for visiting faculty and VIPs.
